About New Life
In 1983, thirteen city lots of property were designated for the purpose of a third Reformed Church in Sioux Center. In 1990, a steering committee was formed and planning began.
Our first worship service was held on July 8, 1990 in a Dordt College classroom, and most of the 200 seats were filled! Regular services began on August 5, 1990 at Te Paske Theatre.
In October of that year, the West Sioux Classis issued a call to Rev. Carl Boersma; he accepted, and on January 27,1991 he was installed as our pastor. On that same day, our congregation was officially organized with 76 families as charter members.
During that first year, our membership increased to 98 families.
Building plans were approved in January 1993, and on July 10, 1994 a ground-breaking ceremony took place. Men and machines from our congregation did the building site ground preparation in September, and construction began in late April of 1995. By September of 1995, our membership had grown to 175 families.
In June 1996, the dedication of the New Life Reformed Church building took place. In February 1999, we expanded to two Sunday morning worship services.
In 2003, the Crosswalk Education building was approved and completed. The decision was made in 2007 to build an addition to the education wing. By the fall of 2008, it was completed. The two additions have provided 23 classrooms. Our current average attendance is 600 at Sunday morning worship services.
God is faithful and gracious! Our prayer is that we will continue to be faithful to Him and continue to grow in faith as we serve Him.
"Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty." ~Zechariah 4:6
