Accepting Christ

True Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Accepting Jesus as your personal Savior means placing your own personal faith and trust in Him.  No one is saved by the faith of others.  The only way to be saved is to personally accept Jesus as your Savior, trusting His death as the payment for your sins, and His resurrection as your guarantee of eternal life (John 3:16).  Is Jesus personally your Savior?  To become a Christian you need to know these basic facts from the Bible:

God Loves You Just as You Are: God loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for your sins.    ~John 3:16

You are a sinner: Sin is choosing to do what we know opposes God's will.  All people are born in sin.  ~Romans 3:10

Sin separates us from God: God is Holy and sinless, therefore our sin forms a barrier between us and God.  ~Romans 3:23

You cannot save yourself: There is nothing we can do to earn our salvation.  ~Romans 4:4-5

God sent His Son, Jesus to bridge the gap between God and our sin: Only Jesus can bridge the space that separates us and our sin nature from God.  Jesus died on the cross taking the punishment for our sin so that we could have a personal relationship with God.  ~Romans 5:8

You can receive Jesus Christ through faith: Faith is trusting in Jesus Christ and what He has done for you on the cross.  Faith is also repenting and turning away from your sins.   ~John 14:6; Romans 10:9-10

You can accept Jesus Christ through prayer: Admit to God that you are a sinner and ask Him to help you turn away from your sin nature.  Ask Him to forgive your sins and invite Him into your life as your Lord and Savior.  Thank Him for bridging the gap between you and God, and commit to live your life for Him.

Personally accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior is only the first step in your Christian walk.  After accepting Him, share with a trusted friend or family member what you have done, and become involved in a Bible believing church.

If you have prayed to accept Christ as your personal Lord and Savior we'd love to hear from you!  Please let one of our pastors know on our "contact us" page.
