Creeds & Confessions

New Life affirms the following creeds and confessions to be faithful and authoritative documents that inform our understanding of Scripture and shape the way we live as Christ followers.

Originally written in the 2nd century, the Apostles' Creed is the oldest statement of the Christian faith and is a summary of the teachings of the apostles.
Written by the Council of Nicea and the Council of Constantinople, the Nicene Creed was written in response to heresies, particularly Arianism. The creed explains the trinity and addresses the person of Christ as well as creation, redemption, and sanctification.
Named after the fourth century bishop Athanasius who was known for defending Trinitarianism against the Christian heresy Arianism,  the Athanasian Creed addresses the doctrine of the trinity.
